Privacy policy

I’m committed to keeping your data safe, so I work in line with the Data Protection Act 2018.

This privacy policy page is about your use of this website and any enquiries you make about my counselling service. By continuing to use my website, you’re agreeing to this policy.

If you decide to have sessions with me, I’ll give you a working agreement which applies to my counselling services.

Visitors to the website

This website is hosted by Squarespace. Squarespace uses cookies and similar technologies, which are small files or pieces of text that download to a device when a visitor accesses a website or app. For information about viewing the cookies dropped on your device, visit The cookies Squarespace uses.

These functional and required cookies are always used, which allow Squarespace to securely serve this website to you. These analytics and performance cookies are used on this website to view site traffic, activity, and other data, but only when you accept the cookie banner.

This website uses font files from Google Fonts and Adobe Fonts. To properly display this site to you, servers where the font files are stored may receive information about you, including information about your browser, network, or device; and your IP address.

How I store your data

My email account is hosted by ProtonMail, which uses end-to-end encryption and zero access encryption to secure emails. Only I have access to my email account. Any devices I use to respond to your emails and calls are password-protected.

Twice a year, I review all my email and phone correspondence and delete all unnecessary contact details. If you take up my counselling service, your information will be held for longer (this is outlined in the separate working agreement about my counselling services).

I’ll only use your email address and/or telephone number to contact you about my counselling service.

Your rights as a data subject

At any time, you have the right to ask to see what information I hold about you. You also have the right to request that I delete any information I hold about you. You can do this by contacting me directly.

There are some circumstances in which I wouldn’t be able to delete your data, including:

  1. If I need to keep these records in order to continue providing an effective service (in this case, you would have been provided with the separate working agreement relating to my counselling service).

  2. I’m required to retain the information by a court of law.

  3. I require the information in order to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

I’m the Data Controller and Processor for this website and for any enquiries made about my counselling service. I’m registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) as Kate Anne Parkins. If you have any concerns about my data protection practices, please raise them directly with me. You can also notify the ICO.
