A little bit about me

I’m Kate Parkins, a qualified psychotherapeutic counsellor, registered with the BACP.

I moved to Newcastle from Yorkshire over 18 years ago, before training for four years at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

When it comes down to it, I just love having meaningful conversations about what matters to people. You can expect warmth, reflectiveness, and curiosity from me in our sessions.

Over the years, I’ve worked with people facing all kinds of challenges, including anxiety, low mood, depression, stress, lack of motivation, loss, overwhelm, relationship difficulties, grief, climate anxiety, and loud inner critics.

Being a therapist doesn't give me all the answers; I’m a work in progress too, and life can always throw the unexpected into the mix. But in my experience, counselling can be moving, challenging, thought-provoking, and freeing - no matter what stage of life we’re at, or how settled or ‘messy’ we feel.

If this chimes with you, I think we’d work well together.

Alongside my counselling work, I have a communications role in a national mental health charity.
