A little bit about me

I’m Kate Parkins (she/her), a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, registered with the BACP.

I moved to Newcastle from Yorkshire over 17 years ago, before training for four years at the Northern Guild of Psychotherapy and Counselling.

When it comes down to it, I just love having meaningful conversations about what matters to people. Being a therapist doesn't give me all the answers - I’m a work in progress too, and life can always throw the unexpected into the mix.

In my experience, counselling can be moving, challenging, thought-provoking, and freeing - no matter what stage of life we’re at, or how settled or ‘messy’ we feel.

If this chimes with you, chances are we’d work well together.

Over the years, I’ve worked with people facing all kinds of challenges. I work with people who are living with anxiety, low mood, stress, loss, lack of motivation, relationship difficulties, grief, climate anxiety, and perfectionism.

Alongside seeing counselling clients, I work in communications for a national mental health charity.
